Life-Long Learning
Keeping your mind active is a very important factor in keeping your memory functioning at its best.
Research has shown that people who have completed more years of
formal education tend to perform better on memory tests and are less likely to
develop dementia (Alzheimer’s Disease). However, even
if you didn’t go that far in school, you can still protect and improve your
memory by continuing to stay mentally active as long as you can. How can you do
this?
Some examples include:
· Take a class at college
or university
· Take a class at the Y or 55+ center
· Go to a play
· Go to the symphony
· Read a book
· Start a discussion
group
· Travel
What kinds of activities do you take part in? What kinds of things
are available in your neighborhood?
