Remembering
Where You Put Things
It is not uncommon to misplace your glasses or keys. However, you
can avoid this problem if you have a regular place for everything that
you use on a regular basis. For example, if you have a special spot for your
keys or your purse, take a few seconds when you come in the door to put those
items in their respective places, so they are easier to find the next time.
If you are in a unfamiliar place, be alert to where you put
something down, where you parked the car, or which entrance you came in. Use a mental
image to link the item, (e.g your car), to the
location (e.g. parked near the entrance to Walmart)
to facilitate recall.
